The mission of Docs Who Care is to provide a group of physicians and health care providers who will partner with a community hospital to provide clinic and emergency department staffing, inpatient and hospital care, and other administrative services.Â
Many hospitals we work with are facing the issue of trying to recruit physicians to their community or retain the physicians they already have in their community. Though there are many reasons doctors come and go, the major stress factor for a physician in a small community is the necessity of providing Emergency Department coverage.Â
Physicians are more than willing to commit to a challenging private practice that includes a full schedule of clinic patients, while maintaining a busy inpatient service in the local hospital. However, fewer and fewer doctors are willing to take call for ED patients. After a busy day of making rounds and seeing patients in the office, most doctors want to go home to their families, without the responsibility of covering the ED.Â
Docs Who Care can help provide a solution by:
- Providing permanent Board Certified family physicians who will staff the hospital ED and/or the clinic
- Providing 24 hour a day admitting and inpatient coverage
- Providing 24 hour coverage for existing community doctors who need and deserve time off
- Providing 24 hour Emergency Department coverage
We have found that the volumes will increase, the quality of care being provided will improve, and there will be increased revenues to the hospital when Docs Who Care is involved, in partnership with the local hospital, in helping to bring the best possible care to a community.Â
