CAQH Update

Issue 15
Dec 2011

As some of you know, there is a new credentialing service called CAQH being used by hospitals to obtain credentialing information and verification on providers through a universal source.  Providers are being asked to submit a CAQH number so that hospitals can be reimbursed from insurance companies for your services.  You will need to follow these steps to start the CAQH process:

  1. Register with a participating organization to obtain a Provider ID number and authentication data. CAQH will send you a registration kit in the mail.
  2. Activate your CAQH account online at https://upd.caqh.org/OAS.
  3. Complete the application. You can complete online or print.
  4. After completing the online process, you can control your information by authorizing access to your information.
  5. Once you complete the CAQH process, you will need to review the data entry by attesting the information.
  6. Once you attest, you will need to fax the supporting documents to CAQH, 1-866-293-0414.
  7. Once you have completed the process, please send your CAQH number to bdawson@docswhocare.com.

Every four months, you will receive a request from CAQH to re-attest that all of the information in your application is correct.
