Does the principle of “commitment” make a difference?

Issue 13
Aug 2011

In this issue of life.line, we are featuring the principle of commitment.  We believe it is a very important concept and one that we try to practice each day.

Just so we all have a better understanding of what commitment is, I thought I might share some quotations that give the term greater meaning for us.

“It was character that got us out of bed, commitment that moved us into action, and discipline that enabled us to follow through.”  Zig Ziglar

“Unless commitment is made, there are only promises and hopes; but no plans.”
Peter F. Drucker

“There is a difference between interest and commitment.  When you’re interested in doing something, you do it only when circumstances permit.  When you’re committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results.”

Docs Who Care is committed to excellence in every activity we pursue.  It is something that we do intentionally…on purpose.

We are blessed to have a devoted, loyal, and committed staff in our central office in Olathe. They are committed to our mission of serving the rural hospitals in our area. Just recently, two of our staff celebrated their 10th anniversary with us…Janine Smith and Christy Kuzmich.  We congratulate them on this achievement and thank them for their years of service.

The lifeblood of our organization through the years has been the physicians and midlevel providers who provide patient care at the hospitals where we are privileged to staff. They, too, are committed to serving these communities with great energy, enthusiasm and quality care.  Many of them have been a part of Docs Who Care for numerous years.  They display commitment to our mission in all they do, and we are grateful for their association with us.

Often, it is those who we serve who have the keenest insight into how well we are achieving our goal of exhibiting commitment as we service their needs.  Here are just a few statements of how we are doing.

“DWC has always responded to requests, complaints and concerns in a positive and constructive manner. They put together a 24/7 ED coverage team in record time to cover when one of our full-time physicians became ill and required long-term treatment.”

“Docs Who Care has been the only locums company that we have dealt with that has not had some kind of ‘issue’ from time-to-time. We are pleased to have a reliable, one-call solution for our staffing issues.”

“When I think of Docs Who Care, I think of their commitment to their clients.  I do not have to worry about shifts being covered. Other contractors may boast their firm can do the same. But experience proves if a company can follow through. With DWC we have the security of knowing that the service promised was delivered. And that’s commitment.”

We thank our clients for saying it so well.  So, does the principle of commitment really make a difference? We think it does. And for that reason, we will continue to work intentionally, on purpose, and diligently to maintain and improve upon the level of commitment we provide to our clients.
